Rehabilitation

The philosophy behind our approach to rehabilitation is based on The Five Phases of Rehabilitation and neuromuscular movement re-education.

The key is in the name: neuro-muscular. The focus in many rehabilitation programmes is on individual muscles and we have a tendency to ignore the nervous system because we can’t see it! With Dynamic Movement Skills we try to re-educate the movement patterns interrupted after injury or surgery. We do this by stimulating the neuropathways.

The overriding factor is the importance of having a functional approach to the movement patterns and working through all ranges of motion.

Motor control

Following injury or surgery, there is an interruption in the neuro-pathways of movement patterns and the body will try and compensate to keep moving and to assist with recovery.

The DMS Rehabilitation Module is progressive from the basic movement re-education to functional neuromotor stimulation, to Dynamic Movement development. Through a series of movement patterns and functional exercises the movement patterns are re-educated.

It is important that all exercises movements are technically correct and introduced at a point where the client/patient can develop his or her movement patterns. The skill or technique of the movement is just as important as the movement itself.

Neuromuscular and Movement Rehabilitation

  • Movement & Motor Re-education after injury or surgery

  • Muscle Activation & Recruitment

  • Neuromuscular Stimulation

  • Functional Movement Re-Education

  • Progressive Rehab Protocols & Exercises for:

    • Back

    • Hip

    • Knee

    • Lower Limb

    • Upper thoracic

    • Shoulder

We have used the Movement Re-patterning Module with Adults with

  • Movement Dysfunction

  • Neurological Issues

  • Seniors – Falls Prevention
